The Orr’s Island Library invites the community to join award-winning novelist Bob Feldman for a special author discussion and book signing featuring his suspenseful novel, Deception Downeast: A Tale of Power, Blackmail, Genius & Redemption. Feldman, who is currently working on the sequel scheduled to be released this summer, will share insights into creating compelling stories inspired by the people, challenges, and changing landscapes of coastal communities.
Set in a picturesque Maine village facing powerful outside pressures and difficult choices, Deception Downeast explores the clash between hardworking fishermen, an energy conglomerate, and a tech billionaire in a gripping story about tradition, change, loyalty, and the fight to protect a way of life.
The novel follows Sam and Marylin Wicker, who return to their hometown seeking a fresh start, only to find themselves caught in a web of deceit, danger, and conflicts that could determine the future of their beloved community. With richly drawn characters and timely themes, Feldman creates a suspenseful page-turner centered around the preservation of a natural paradise and the people who call it home.
During the event, Feldman will discuss the inspiration behind the book, the process of writing a thriller set against the backdrop of a rapidly changing Maine coast, and how real-world issues can shape compelling fiction. A Q&A session will follow, and readers of Deception Downeast are encouraged to bring their questions for a deeper conversation. Copies of the book will be available for signing.
